Here are 3 screenshots from stations I logged this evening from my home near Okla. City w/inexpensive radio shack antenna on roof w/no preamp, KNAZ, Channel 2, Flagstaff, AZ; KTVK, Channel 3, Phoenix, AZ; XHBC, Channel 3, Mexicali, Mexico. Question for the group, all these screenshots were done w/digital camera (unfortunately, camera shutter has a delay). What's the best way to run a recording of what I'm seeing. Would it be a VHS recorder, DVD recorder or what? Got to be a better way than hoping digital camera "clicks" at just the right time. Regards, Scott, Okla. City area.

Hi Scott,

I was just in Norman for job training last year...anyway....>>>

Those are excellent snapshots with the cam IMO! To run a recording, I'd say a good 4-head VCR is the way to go (BEWARE of those VCR's w/ "blue screen" feature....you don't want that!)....depending on how fluttery the pic is, go by trial & error on using the SP mode on the VCR vs. SLP (or EP) mode when recording.

I have learned this.....for me, DVD recording of DX (during a session) is OUT, unless a good model can be recommended. The DX "data" does not seem to register like that of a VCR, and the unit stops or freezes because of all the rolling & fading......I have also learned, *my* DVD recorder will NOT copy "stills" made from 2 VCRs (freezing DX on 1 VCR to copy onto another one).

I myself would like to find out from others, their experiences on this.

BTW, I miss hearing "The Wax Museum" on KOMA...that was an awesome oldies show.

I appreciate your reply & input. I had hoped that by now, a better method of recording would've been invented...but I guess the vcr may still be the device of choice, at least as far as you're concerned. We'll see if any others reply. Would like to run about an 8 hour tape while I'm at work, so I guess I'll try an older tv, that won't automatically shut off, and the ol' reliable vcr. By the way, has anyone figured out a simple solution to get the newer tv's to not turn off automatically after so-long when receiving static? As to your KOMA comments...DJ, Danny Williams, who I believe was on the air back in the 50's spinning records, is still doing mornings!
Regards, Scott.

Yeah I heard that....I'd much rather have heard Larry Neal tho' :(

I'd best get on topic.....

Here's another thing u can do....get a digital camera which records video & sound, as like a motion picture....if your snapshots are that good, I am sure you can record on a vidcam right off the TV....AND, you won't lose the quality, as u would on a VCR or DVD.

I find, that recording ch 2 on Es on my TV/VCR combo (which I use on trips) goes down in quality quite a bit in playback. E.G.....I got a nice color motion of TA 2 in Santo Domingo last week....when I reviewed it coming home, all I can muster was B&W. (Look for my "Home 'n' Away 5/31" pix.) Bummed me out. As the channels go higher, it seems to copy better.

I have a digital camera w/ video & sound, but I am still a novice at this, and also when I am on a trip for this, I cannot get the sun out of the TV picture....so I need a way to block the reflection/glare. THEN I'll try to record on the vidcam.

Oh and....you are right....this unit of mine DOES shut off, when the Es are too wild....drives me crazy....:banghead:
