Howdy,
Well, after reviewing a lot of the online info. on identifying Mexican UNID's, I thought I'd take a break, and see if there might be a simpler solution...post my UNID's from yesterday here and see if someone can identify. All screenshots attached are from Ch. 2 yesterday. Reception was between 10:30 & 11:30 am cdt. I believe I've got 2 stations here...both from Mexico..and possibly from Nuevo Laredo & maybe Monterrey. But, that's just a pure guess. I did hear a mention of "Televisa" and "Canal Cinco," although, like I've said, all screenshots were received on Ch. 2. Any help appreciated. Oh, my rooftop antenna was pointed south from the Okla. City area.
Regards, Scott, Okla. City area

Hi Scott,

I cannot positively ID any of these, but I'll say the following....

From OKC, Nuevo Laredo & Monterrey would be too close to you for normal Es; however nothing is impossible.

The "Honduras vs Mexico" ones: the logo looks like that of "El Canal de las Estrellas" (the channel of the stars) which would either be XEW-TV Mexico City OR a relay of it.

Pix 4 & 5, the cartoon, is what is in the US "The Powerpuff Girls", and the logo in the upper right is Canal Cinco network....relaying ch 5 XHGC Mexico City. It's a circle with an italicized "5" and a star after it.

www.mexicoradiotv.com will be a major help here!

oh & the last one must be a show called "Muevete" ("move it") & Mercedes Molto, according to Google, is a Mexican actress. The links I see on Google lead to esmas.com.mx (Televisa, likely Canal de las Estrellas again)

cd,
Many thanks for the reply, this will give me something to go on...I will keep digging. I seem to remember thinking at the time that pix 2 & 3 were from a separate station & the other pix were all from the same station, simply separate shows at different times. That logo in bottom right corner on pix 2 & 3 almost looks like "VOA" to me...but that can't be right. I will keep searching. You're right about the Es distance...think I'll get a ruler and map out and mark out a "zone." Thanks again...
Regards, Scott.

cd,
The more I've looked into these, and the online information available, the more uncertain I've become. As to the soccer promos shots, I really have not been able to see any symbol with a star inside a circle, left half of the star being shaded, on the screenshots, but that doesn't mean it's not there. As to the cartoons shots, I guess that funny looking thing in the right corner must be some sort of a "P" for Powerpuff Girls. That was throwing me off. There may also be a "5" above it, but fainter, which would indicate Canal Cinco. That "P" looking logo also had me wondering whether it was actually the logo for Gamavision, but I decided against that. As to the other 2 shots, the ones with the roundtable discussion going on, I am compeltely baffled by the logo in the bottom right corner. Thought at first it might be the TeleCubanacan logo, but have decided against it. I told you....I'm now more uncertain.
Regards, Scott.

Scott,

My son played in two baseball games Saturday (they won both games), so I didn't see anything from Mexico here Saturday. And I only check the Forums a couple of times a week.

cd is correct about the unIDs. Although two of your stations are
XEW-2 (star in a circle) and XHGC-5 (slanted 5 with asterisk in circle) relayers, I'm not sure about the logo lower right in pics 2 and 3.

Most network relayer *local* IDs are in the form of supered *text* IDs. Most logos (but not all) placed lower right in Mexico are program logos, with network and local station logos usually being upper right.

XEFB-2 Monterrey is received often here via Es, in spite of the short distance. Their rectangular logo is upper right and contains the name TELEACTIVA.

Beware of Fred Cantu's site and Televisa's local station sites, as some of the logos are outdated by five years.

Keep watching the Mexicans. You *will* see some local logos and text IDs.

oh boy....I thought I sent this, but I must've forgotten the Send button.

Hey Danny----

Is the XEFB logo bug a white rectangle in upper right? I got that during the Keys session w/ 3tv, but it would not hold still at all. I tend to think my Canal Cinco on 6 was XET-TV Monterrey.

IMO Cantu does his best....it is hard to keep up with all the info there in Mexico....I like his video & audio links. Since this is partly an FM board, I like the music on XHAW 101.3 Monterrey...."inolvidable" (unforgettable)!!

The top two-thirds of XEFB-2's logo is red and the bottom third is blue.
Teleactiva is in the red.

XHFM-2 Veracruz uses a rectangle upper right with a white background.

Several of the Televisa independents are now relaying some programs from XHTV-4. Therefore, those stations are using larger logos, IMHO, that are big enough to cover XHTV's "4TV" logo upper right.

As for Fred Cantu, he does an extraordinary job with his site. However,
it is an impossible job trying to keep up with the changes in Mexico. The Televisa sites are another matter. Jeff Kruszka and I have fussed about those worthless pages for a long time.
