Not really, Scott....1200 miles or so, definitely in Es range. But thanx!

Oh & I neglected this...this would *not* be considered a new logging, as I have seen it as the former RCTV quite a few times.

I was getting decent sound in these catches, but, somehow, the picture was only good for a lil while. TVes was in color about 15 seconds prior to the snap, but that's the only ID slide I could manage, and the logo bug was not well defined.

I am hoping for a better VEN session b4 the season closes.

cd,
Know what u mean about getting the best pix u can....whenever there's lots of color...that's usually when there's nothing of interest to photograph. I had the misfortune of losing some pretty good catches (considered by me, a beginning tv dx'er) due to the vcr recording nothing...apparently I was in the wrong mode when recording.....and when I reviewed tape..there was nothing..oh well...
Regards, Scott.

Cool

Was the TVes you saw channel 2 or channel 3.

I'm still wondering where there was a zero-offset (slightly drifting!) channel 3 RCTV transmitter (I DXed in in Michigan back in 2003).

Did TVes assume *all* the over the air channels of RCTV, or just channel 2 Caracas?

FWIW, RCTV still exists, as a cable-only channel.

You would not believe how many recording problems I've had over the years.
I use five VCRs (one for each low-band channel) when Es is up to channel 6 and my two low-band locals have floaters or over-takers. If DTV snow is strong, I use another VCR for a DTV STB.

Jeff Kruszka and Pat Dyer have used camcorders at times to record DX. That way, there is no signal loss, and you record what the TV shows. If I had the room to set up cameras, I would use the camcorder method for at least some channels.

Yeah, that's the ticket.....prob is, I don't own a camcorder, and I have other expenses to meet.

To Robert & the others....I goofed by not mentioning....it was ch 3 from my house. I figure TVes took all the RCTV xmtrs. Someday I'll get it in better shape than that....I have certainly seen RCTV better.....and BTW.....I have no idea how to detect offsets. I don't have the FCC table in front of me either, where channel allocations & offsets are. I do remember the old Broadcasting Yearbooks with that info.

If I ever got TVes on ch 2 from my getaway spot, likely it would be Maracaibo, as I have never definitely ID'd Caracas on TV or FM....I am sure it is too far away.

FYI, the program that was on was soccer highlights.
