Hi from Iceland. I just found this web site when I was looking for images of test cards from tv broadcasts.

I have seen this happening where I live. I've seen NRK (Norway Public Tv) and sometimes over the summer we get NRK Radio, SVT Radio (I haven't spotte the Tv last time I did see this) and other radio stations from Norway and Sweden. I plan to setup two VHF antennas soon, pointing them in the direction of Norway and UK. :)

I also want to say hello to everyone on the forum. :)

When I was about 20, I spent 18 months in Keflavik in the military. I spent the winter months DXing the AM band and had great success with it. Unfortunately I didn't have any equipment for TV or FM Dxing. If I remember, all there was on TV was the local E3 and the base's A8. FM was empty except for one station. I wish I had an yagi on the barracks roof and a decent tuner.

You should do well from there. Icelandic FM stations have been known to be heard down in the UK via E skip and tropo. Most European DXers consider the reception of Iceland FM stations as a real prize!

Let us know what you hear!

I can hear many AM radio stations, but I have a radio (old) that has FM/MW/LW/SW bands. But the antenna and the radio is getting poor because of a age and usage. I also own a old RCA LP player and a FM/AM radio (30+ years old), it is from the U.S and I have to use 220V/50Hz to 120V/60Hz converter to actually use it.

Here (http://www.pta.is/upload/files/ISLAND%20TV%2024.04.07.jpg) are the channels for all the tv stations in Iceland. The strongest one is E4 near Reykjavik. There is a other powerful transmitter located near Akureyri.

Here (http://www.pta.is/upload/files/ISLAND%20FM%2024.04.07%282%29.jpg) are all the FM frequency's used by Icelandic radio stations. The Strongest one is 99.9/92.4 near Reykjavik. But there are few stronger transmitters in use by Rúv, both in TV transmissions and FM transmission.

Here (http://www.ruv.is/heim/upplysingar/um/dreifikerfi/fm/) is the fm transmitters list that Rúv uses. The onces marked with a * are more powerful then normal, I think they are 1000W or more. I am not sure what amount of power they are using to broadcast the signal. Here (http://www.ruv.is/heim/upplysingar/um/dreifikerfi/sjonvarpsdreifing/) is the list of tv transmitters used by Rúv, they don't appear to mark the stronger transmitters specially.

Channel 2 (Stöð 2) and Skjár Einn (Tv One) broadcast mostly on UHF band. Mostly using low power transmitters. Channel 2 also has turned off most of it's analog network today, it is in the progress of turning it off within the year.

I hope that this information can be used. :) :D
