One of my hometown stations (admittedly one I almost never listened to) seems to be actually fairly frequent reception on 94.9 down here.... 503-mile tropo, at least the third time heard.
Poor quality is mostly a result of poor recording technique. (Olympus VN-120 digital "note taker" held in front of speaker, then patched to mike input of laptop PC...)
