"DTV coverage won’t live up to promises, new study says...."
"Millions of over-the-air (OTA) TV viewers could be left in the dark following the DTV transition next February, according to a study released today from market research firm Centris."
“The government says, ‘Buy a converter box with an antenna,’ or, ‘Buy a DTV that needs an antenna,’” said Centris Senior VP Barry Goodstadt. “But if you don’t have a good enough antenna, it isn’t going to work.”

Using the smallest and cheapest indoor antennas I own (VHF= single dipole antenna that came with one of my recent 13" TVs; UHF= single bow-tie antenna from one of my old Zenith TVs that clips around the VHF dipole antenna) I conducted some reception tests (analog vs digital) from my basement on the far north side of Indy. The analog signal was from a Panasonic PV-C923 and the digital signal was from a new Insignia NS-DXA1. These signals were fed via "video out" to the "video in" of a Hauppauge WinTV-D, using its external input ability and the snapshot feature.
