Ironic DTV spanish-language announcement

Just caught this on Univision and found it beyond ironic-
Roughly translated they spoke of the feb 2009 transition deadline and of `vastly superior video and sound quality`, as even though the signal was very good, the picture was breaking up so bad you could barely make out the guy`s face and the sound quality was so badly compressed it made me cringe. Ended by saying `don`t leave it until the last minute or after feb 09 you won`t be able to watch anymore tv!` Well if it`s gonna be that crummy...

Actually I prefer watching a DTV signal over an analog. Even with a converter box the pictures look sharper and crisper than analog, and it's only 480i. As for DXing digital signals, we'll have to wait for the analog shutdown to see how that turns out. It may not be so bad once the UHF band sorts itself out.

That`s honestly not been at all what I`ve experienced, but I don`t mean to be negative, just found it amusing. If it turns out to have some advantage over analog then all the better. However for me the ``fun factor`` will be mostly gone.

As it will be for a lot of people, I predict. But we will definitely see the effect on DXing in less than a year. Maybe you and I will log Mexico..or Vancouver on TV. Who knows.
