RadioIntel.com - Reviews Degen DE1103
http://www.radiointel.com/review-degende1103.htm
Degen got a lot of things right with the 1103. The DE1103 is a
good performer on MW. Selectivity seems to be the strong point
of the radio on MW. It did a pretty good job of reducing the
sidebands of my local MW pest station. Sensitivity on MW was
average to above average. You can really see the effectiveness
of the narrow filter on MW. ... Performance on FM is above
average. It does a pretty good job of detecting weak stations.

Sensitivity (in µV) from the jack of the outside antenna in
different receiving frequencies. The ratio S/S+N (SINAD) is
accepted to be equal to 10 db. ((they use "," where we use "."))
f AM SSB
100 kHz 3,60 1,00
500 kHz 2,25 0,64
1 MHz 1,40 0,40
2 MHz 1,10 0,31
12 MHz 0,70 0,20
22 MHz 1,40 0,40
29 MHz 2,80 0,80
Small and light, sturdy and stylish, powered with rechargeable
batteries and excellent reception characteristics. You can take
it in the train and listen with the whip antenna, or attaching a
good antenna, receive “live” ether, without fearing to lose its
fullness in the noise of overload.
Show me another receiver with the same choice of features
priced $90 (here in Russia, abroad a new DE1103 is sold for
$55!) to make me reconsider its leadership position in this class.

1. Toshiba TA7358 FM front end -- excellent low voltage double

performance figures ... 2 FM IF filters with good selectivity,

To improve FM-DX reception, that's the selectivity, in my country
many listeners replaced the two factory FM ceramic filters with
other ones. For example, I use the sharpest filters avalaible on the
market of 53 kHz (see http://www.fmdx.com) and despite a *little*
reduction in audio quality (but not the stereo signals), the
separation between the stations is at best. Luca Botto Fiora
