Remote Controls

I hope You Guys can Help. With All these new set top boxes coming out, I would like to know if there are any universal remotes that will control any of the set top boxes. Some of these set top boxes have no buttons at all. If you lose the remote, you can't use the box.

I tried an RCA universal remote with my Insignia STB and couldn't get it to work. The Insignia's remote, however, turned on the box and also the analog RCA TV I'm using, so go figure...

I know this thread is a little old, but.. aren't all of the CECBs supposed to use common remote codes as per the govt. spec? If I understand that correctly, shouldn't all of them work with a universal remote provided you know what device code to use?

I'm seeing that some of the remotes that come with the CECBs are programmable themselves to allow them to work your TV but that's a different subject, yes?
