unID on 1020

[TexDX]

Thursday night [Friday morning 3/28)] at approximately 0300 Eastern someone on 1020 with a loop saying something to the effect 'CBS News Channel 42'.

Poor reception.

Somebody's computer system went awry.

Anyone have an idea who it might have been?

I don't know who it was, but I believe "CBS News Channel 42" is a test of sorts. I would not be surprised if this were a brand new station, somewhere. I'd check www.radio-locator.com 's "advanced search", type in 1020 & look for any stations that have just been granted licenses, and contact one of them.

This is a satellite-related glitch. Something either didn't connect to a satellite feed when it should have, or failed to disconnect when it should have. Unless someone else who heard it is close to the station and can conclusively ID it, there's no way to know who it was.
