Just got 93.9 WDRR Martinez, GA at 337 miles full ID right at 11:00pm Oct 26 on a short strong burn. Unless it was airplane scatter, this is the shortest distance Ms I've logged so far.
OK Dave, I know you have this beat :)

I do, by a couple of 'em. But that's still verrrrry short. I think I only have 3 or 4 that short, my shortest being in-state KWVR 92.1 in Enterprise, OR at 206 miles :-).

I'm always excited to get anything in the 200-600 mile range, as that's unlikely for Es or Tropo. Ms is the only chance!

Criminey Dave, a meteor trail capable of a 206 mile reflection ought to be landing in your back yard! I guess there's no way to tell the difference from a reflection from a large aircraft but let's assume it's Ms. I guess if you knew where the plane was going and knew what to look for you might be able to follow the path by other stations that could come in briefly off of it. And if it burned up then we have another problem
I have a hard time NOT hearing stations 206 miles away here.
I've actually logged Martinez, GA on 93.9 once via tropo but they were WKDG then. I guess they recently changed calls so it's a new log. Previously my shortest Ms ID was 101.7 KBYB Hope, AR at 476 miles. I've noticed how all of my short distance Ms signals tend to be stronger than most and very short lived.

Randy, it -could- have been airplane scatter, but could not have been tropo. There's no way KWVR could get here - it's essentially in a "bowl" about 3000' negative HAAT (in this direction), and not very high-powered at that (6KW or 3KW at the time; they had a CP they may have been operating under) :-).

I do have a few stations that I've logged both by Tr and Ms. KZOK Seattle, KEZE/KXLY Spokane, KIBR Sandpoint ID, and KMSO/KZOQ Missoula MT all come to mind, all under 400 miles. The Spokanes, Missoulas, and KIBR were definitely Ms, as they were received during major showers in the middle of the night - not much plane traffic then! KZOK might have been aircraft scatter, though - it popped up for about 3 seconds, including RDS, at about 7AM one morning.
