Hi,received a Spanish speaking TA signal in S portugal yesterday.
Put video on youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLu_64ZU5Vc

At the time the local 6 meter beacon CT1ART was being received on the N coast of S America.

Mentions "El Gran Premio De Milwaukee" around 50 seconds in.
There's also a little musical type ident around 45 seconds and then a
womans voice I think says "Ven".

Had a look through Venezualan TV websites last night but could find
no reference to this being shown.Time was around 18.50GMT,around zero
offset.A little later there was a kids program on 55.26 co channel with this.
All faded by around 20.00GMT

Any thoughts most welcome!!

Hugh

I cannot view YouTube, but I gleaned this:

(1) I gid a Google for "el gran premio de Milwaukee," and every hit was a Mexican website, FWIW.

(2) "Ven" I believe means "come on" or "let's go"....so I would not tie it to Venezuela.

Was there any logo in the corner? Check out Danny's site for Latin American TV info:

Hugh,
Wow...that was a marginal signal...if you could spot a logo somewhere...I was certain at one time I spotted one in the bottom right corner...but now I'm not so certain....and grab the best frame of that logo...and attach that frame here...maybe someone can ID it for you.

Hi Scott and CD.
Unfortunately I could see no logo, the signal was a mess
really as a lot of these double hop TA signals often are.
Thanks for the info on Mexico.

I've attached a large audio file, the initial part is direct recording of the
race, then it goes onto microphone and is worse. The end part around
3:40 is the little jingle type ident and the Ven thing.

There was some TA earlier,Ch A2 aerobics/exercise class,American
accent, didn't last long.DX Sherlock showed 6 meter contact from
S Portugal to Florida and the northeast.

The problem for me to record 525 video is that I have to do it off screen with a 625
Sony DV camera,it will let me tape direct 625 via video in but 525 is a no no,just
goes blank.

On 625 can record it & reinsert sync like in the Syria
video on youtube, without the sync reinsertion the DV wont lock most of the
time,it helps to see logos etc. What a great use for a 25 year old pirate satellite
decoder!!

All the best

This is a recording of the Spanish kids show that came up on 55.26MHz
once the car race on 55.25 faded down.

No id but someone might recognise it???

Both came very much from a southwesterly direction.

Assuming you are using videotape, I will offer a suggestion here....

If you have a digital camera with audio feature, by all means, the best thing would be to record it LIVE with the digital camera (or as I believe Danny suggested, possibly a camcorder recording the signal live)-----that way, you do not lose any of the strength....loss of singal/strength comes with normal video recording. Believe me, some of my DX recordings are living proof!

Often I record color video on Es, and the tape turns out black-&-white.

And I must add-----

Many Mexican TV shows export to other Spanish countries. So even if the show is Mexican, that does not pinpoint the station as Mexican.

I saw the Televisa (Mexico) series "Rebelde" on ch 2 Nicaragua two years ago....it is somewhat popular in the US as well.

Actually, Jeff Kruszka gave me the idea about using a camcorder. I saw some of Jeff's tapes, and they looked very good.

Hi again from Hugh in Portugal.
Well it's been in again tonight.From 1900GMT kids cartoon & at 1930
onto Sesame Street in Spanish.
In between the commercials during the cartoon there was a promo for
a show at 7pm local time, couldn't catch the sound before but short clip
attached says "Siete De La Noche" (7PM of course!) then a word on
the end like "Pasteves".

Any ideas folks? Very much from the SW again with the Cape Verde
6 meter repeater coming in.DX Sherlock didn't show Transatlantic 6M signals.

Video was ghosty etc like before,no hope of a logo being seen.

Check against this:

http://www.tves.com.ve/guia_programacion/13/12

I looked at a flat world map. Closest would be Venezuela's TVes. & BTW, check the Monday sked....Milwaukeee Indycar competition...may be the "el gran premio" (maybe TVes took a Mexican feed)

Hi CD from Hugh.
Very many thanks for this, looks likely.

Sesame St is there in the guide also and on the audio clip yesterday think "Teves" is said after "7pm"

This is the network that used to be RCTV till Mr Chavez decided
he didn't like it I believe.!!!!

They're on a 1/2 hour offset time zone now which would fit in with the
Sesame St timing starting on the hour.

If you heard "teves", that is exactly how "TVes" is pronounced, with 2nd syllable as accented as the first.

And yes, El Presidente Chavez took RCTV off the air & replaced it with TVes (he was soooooo offended by RCTV's position, boo hoo).

As to the Milwaukee race, their homepage highlighted it because of Citgo (the oil company Chavez runs) & Milka Duno (the Venezuelan race car driver who makes Danica Patrick look ugly). ha ha

Here is a photo of my reception of TVes last year....of course for me in Florida, it is normal skip distance....the photo is ch 3, but I got it on both 2 & 3.

Likely you got the Caracas ch 2, but it could have been Maracaibo too, Many congratulations.

Many thanks for the id and the logo.
All quiet today!

There's another carrier that came up on both
occasions with the Tves one that's very unstable,
jumping about,also around 55.25

Hugh

Note: Generally TVes' logo will be in UPPER LEFT during a program. I also have seen Televen ch 3, Venevision ch 4 & Venezolana ch 5 in VEN on my DX trips. You can check their logos on Danny's sites...but it seems that you don't get TA skip above ch 2 (amazing that u get it at all).

Yes,it is much rarer on 3 but something was often there very weakly
when Tves was there on ch 2.

There's weak TA this afternoon (14.30 GMT here) with Spanish audio coming
and going from 55.26 video with a woman talking and talking and talking
this is Telemundo offset but doesn't seem like them to me,its weak though and almost gone now.The maps are showing a few contacts on 6M from the Florida direction and further south to here.

Keep a lookout for Spain,Portugal ch E2

Hugh
