More Venezuelan TV on ch 2 in Portugal

Been receiving Tves Venezuela again ffrom 18.55GMT to around 19.30.
El Presidente Chavez was at some conference going on and on about socialismo etc etc(I think he's seen too many old Fidel speeches which are
presumab!y available now in Cuba on DVD!!).

Then a brief id and then onto kids cartoon show.

This was a different ch 2 transmitter to last week,frequency around 55.24922
the previous one was 55.25005 approx (unless it drifts...)

Have a video which I'll edit in the next few days.The id in sound and vision was a bit blurred and distorted.

Signals at times got to ch 3 and 4 but very weak and no chance of an id.

Just after the Venezuelan reception another signal appeared
on ch 2 with a logo at the top right though very ghosty.
Finally had an ident "Tele Antillas" around 20.40GMT.
Frequency was measured at 55.260033 MHz.
From doing a quick Google search find this is from the Dominican
Republic.

You amaze me, Hugh. Wouldn't that be over 5,000 miles? (Venezuela I mean)

The logo for Tele Antillas is a stylized "TA" (remember Danny's sites). If you see T.Antillas again, be sure to be on lookout for WKAQ on ch 2. There will be a "T" in lower right (for Telemundo). Both of these come in at the same time when I have seen it.

Did you make video/snapshots live? (not via recorder?) Were any of these in color? (Maybe you only use a black & white TV)

Hi CD from Hugh.

Well the video is a complete mess really.You'll see from the recording
hopefully soon.Antillas did get a little clearer after the ident with a kids show type thing.Color....hmmmmm...... the thing is hardly in black and white!!!!

Looking at Sherlock etc on 6 meters skip was coming from here just
to the Domincan Republic/N Venezuala area.North Ven is about 4,000 miles
distant from here.

2 days ago was crazy,mostly to the east with Arabs.around 18.00GMT
though had Brazil audio on ch A2,nothing else,vision was all co channel
625lines with either Jordan or Syria as Arab audio on 60.75 E3 sound.There's a lot of miles between Jordan/Syria and the north of Brazil !!!

Hopefully skip will move a little north over the next few weeks just to try
and get some US stations before the end of analog!

Was looking at a flat world map & doing some measuring....

Seems that Boston/Bangor WLBZ/Canadian Maritimes are about equidistant from your place. New York would seem to be the same distance form you as Venezuela.

Here is a challenge...try for my WPBT ch 2 Miami. It is farther out, but you had WKYC Cleveland before....similar distance. www.channel2.org

Never had anything from your part of the world so far,propagation seems to get down to the Carolinas & up to Telemundo.Stations are very location selective when they appear.

Channel 2 was trying tonight but didn't really get anywhere.Azores 6Meter
beacon is strong at the moment

Hope to edit the tape in my camera tomorrow with the reception from
yesterday.

Had some sporadic E reception from Cameroon in Africa on channel E2
earlier in the week around 2,500 miles away.Put video on youtube

very blocky when uploaded and transferred to their video format.

I had to record it a little dark or got an annoying flicker due to using a 625/50 camera.

It's come out a little blocky,if anyone wants a copy let me know and can
send-File is around 18MB though and you need the divx codec.

Hi Telemundo ch 2 has been coming and going during our local
afternoon here in Portugal.

But it's come out a bit blocky,they change all incoming formats to flash
video (flv) and it doesn't really like rapidly changing noise.
There was a sound ident just before I started taping". Right at the end
at about 2:00 there's music & the "T" logo can be seen at the lower right side
though not easily.I have a small video file (less than 10MB) of the id if anyone
wants it
