Ch 2 Bird/Wildlife Documentary in Spanish

Hi again from Hugh.

Just had weak zero offset ch 2 with a wildlife/wild bird documentary
in Spanish??? Faded now

My local 6M beacon CT1ART was received by KE4WBO in locator square
FLO6 at 15.30 UTC according to DX Sherlock.Don't think that's
too far away from CD's part of the world !!

You will see at the above site, that all Cuba stations have zero offsets, on ch 2 anyway. Wouldn't surprise me if it were Cuba. No commercials? Did you see if there was/was not a logo bug?

There is a page which gives TV listings ("cartelera") of Cuban channels. Glenn Hauser was the first to alert to this a few years ago.

The ch 2 in Havana I know (which does not seem to be as strong as the 132kW listed) is Tele Rebelde. The top site gives network affiliation.

This is a clip of the documentary.Problem is there's long gaps in the speech
when there's some music & birdlike noises from the forest or wherever,
sounds like a "Discovery Channel" or Nat Geographic thing to me with Spanish (slightly bored/undynamic type voice) voiceover.

A2 still weak in/out.They've been getting carriers in the UK this afternoon
as well,suspected to be from the Carribean area

I've kept the sampling rate of the mp3 clip quite high as there's so much
noise etc.Done noise reduction to the clip already & taken off the high end to make
it slightly more readable....!!!

Don't be surprised if you see a logo bug that makes no sense....most of the time, Cuba "pirates" their programs off US satellites, and they cover our logos with strange shapes....(See my tip on ID's Cuba on one of the TV DX columns on the site for more info.)

Discovery Ch is one of the channels that they have pirated.

If I could see anything that resembled a half decent picture during this
type of reception I'd be happy.A logo would be impossible to see!!

Cubans Pirating surely not ;)

Does Fidel have a friend "legally subscribing" at a US address & then he
sends the sat box over or is it all pirate decoder stuff I wonder!!!???

Gotta be just plain satellite receivers there taping our stuff, then either they add SS dialog or put subtitles on the bottom of the screen. They have some of our shows like "CSI", "Monk", "House," & "Veronica Mars." Most of these are EE with subtitles.

There once was a time when the public could buy (or even build) a satellite receiver to own for themselves, but Fidel put a stop to that a few years ago. Heaven forbid they learn good things about the USA,

I read somewhere that they like to show any US programming which brings out the evil in us. They even have "The Sopranos" on their free TV.
