I had your 48.242 television video here from 12:00 - 13:30 GMT

also worked CT1HZE on 50 MHz CW signal on a dipole antenna 10 ft high. His signal reached S5, weaker on SSB later.

Hi,very good, what was the strength of E2 signal like?
Don't forget the audio at 53.74

I think CT1HZE is right on the SW corner of the peninsular.
48.242 E2 is Muro right in the north of Portugal.

I'm about 60 miles east of CT1HZE.

Hi CD from Hugh

Portugal, will stay till possibly 2012 but suspect 2015 or later.
E2 and E3 have large coverage in the north/middle of the country
and terrestrial DTV hasn't even started here yet though will do probably
next year..maybe...

Note that E2 has vertical polarisation & a negative offset to reduce
interference with Madrid.

Spain E2 Madrid is due to go off in 2010.

Some ch A2 this afternoon when I got home an hour or so ago but
no id's.

Telemundo fighting it out with N Carolina now.
Can't see that happening with DTV somehow.

What's the furthest West you've ever had CD?
California???

Not even close.

Lubbock TX or thereabouts.....Was on vacation in north Florida in 1990 or so and got soemthing in Mountain time....may have been 96.3 El Paso TX, but nothing positive.

My distance record is only about 1400 miles.

My name is Chris/Christopher, BTW :)

Hi Chris from Hugh.

Lubbock Tx,Buddy Holly's part of the world I think?

Mike B in CT had E2 48.25 on his scanner's own telescopic antenna last night.
It gave more signal than his lowband TV antenna which will fall off in gain
much below your ch 2 55.25.

Signals were very much from the N.E. US area to Iberia in general looking at
the maps last night.Various on ch 2,video wasn't too strong or on ch 3.
Identified WLBZ Maine around 22.15 UTC & there was another negative offset
signal with it.Possibly WCBS was in there too with news about something in CT
at one point with zero offset.
The Channel 3 station from Hartford CT had much better audio than video which
was very weak.

I put up some WFSB photos (Hartford) in Got TV DX? last week. WFSB is an absolute pest to the north.

Amazingly, I have never seen chs 2/4/5 NYC....ever....from home, or even on my small trips (except once I think I saw WCBS on a portable TV in 1982 or so from Clewiston, 65 miles from home). It is prime Es range. I believe that the fact they are using the Empire State Building instead of the fallen Twin Towers has something to do with it. I know the power is low, but the height of the antenna would have evened things.
