While DXing from a cabin near Manistique, MI, on 19 July (1155 EDT/0955 MDT) I received a channel 2 by Es with "Breakfast Television" from "CityTV Calgary".
Remembering that Calgary had a full power ch2 years ago, and not having any database with me, I scrawled "CFAC" into my temporary paper log.
Come to find out there is no CFAC anymore.
Now, the Wikipedia page on City TV says that their Calgary transmitter is CKAL-TV ch 5, while City TV Calgary's own website FAQ says they are over the air on VHF channel 7 (The W9WI database doesn't even show a channel 7 TX in Calgary, I think that's just their cable channel).
To add to the confusion, I've heard that the CTV/Bell Globemedia merger has caused the mass swapping of whole networks.
FWIW, There is a transmitter in Lethbridge on channel 2 with the call CKAL-TV-1. Perhaps if CICT (ch 2 Calgary) is NOT City TV, and CKAL (ch 5 Calgary) is, I actually was seeing CKAL1 in Lethbridge.
Any help from someone up to date on Canadian TV transmitters would be apprecieated.
Thanks in advance, Rob
