I have recently purchased a Sony XDR-F1HD receiver after hearing so many good things about it!

I have not received it yet, but at least in the short term, I won't have the funds to buy a really sweet antenna for it, at least for a couple weeks.

Can anyone recommend what I should use in the meantime? Rabbit ears? The old dipole ribbon on the wall antenna?

Thanks a lot!

It comes with a dipole. I used that when I was up in Maine in a hotel. I took clothespins and clipped the ends to the curtain in the window (3rd floor). Worked good and I got FM out to 180 miles.

Great to hear!

Do you think rabbit ears would work better?

I suppose I should just try them both (dipole vs ears) anyways! The rabbit ears would be a lot more directional or easy to adjust I would think.

Well, I'll try both and see what I get! :)

Thanks,

John

I have used the stock Sony antenna hanging just on the outside of my window since June. I used a length of RG-6 and an F barrel female connector. I also used some tightly wrapped electrical tape and some silicone to keep the moisture out of the connector. It has served me quite well during the Es, Ms and now Tr season.

K3PHL,

OK, so are you just using the little wire antenna that came with it?

That is what I am using too, but I have not had a lot of time to test it's worth, yet.

Are you actually using two of these antennas a varying degrees of rotation? Very interesting and economical!

How are you getting the antennas outside of the house? Through the wall?

Thanks,

John

Ok since we are both so close to the Philadelphia Radio Station Broadcast Towers and Antenna's What Channel's/Stations should i be on the lookout to surf for as far as trying to get DX Radio Stations as i just ordered lastnight the Sony XDRS3HD So it will be fun to pickup other stations, plus i have a nice pentax digital camera to take very crisp clean pics of the display.
