As posted above, my family and I are going camping this weekend at Mille Lacs Kathio State Park, 15066 Kathio State Park Road, Onamia, MN 56359. Our mini van is a Dodge Grand Caravan with the myGIG entertainment center that has composite inputs. Just for fun, I am thinking of bringing along a Zenith DTT901 converter box and trying to see if I can get any digital channels at all. I am not sure what I will do for an antenna yet. I did check AntennaWeb.org and it predicts that only analog 12, 16, 22, and 41 are receivable there. I do also have the original C Crane radio that tunes analog TV audio channels 2 through 13. Anyway, what do you folks think. Will it be fun trying to see what I can receive at the camp site, or will it simply be an exercise in futility and I should just leave the toys at home?

Jim:
Take it with you, if it doesn't yield you any results - pack it away after you've tried for a few minutes, you'll wonder IF you could get anything if you don't. BTW - I have a Insignia converter box that I have left in my wife's mini-van that has a DVD with input connections. In the van - I'll scan for new channels wherever we go - especially on Football Saturdays it's great. With a single telescopic antenna velcro'd to a roof rack, you can get pretty good reception while parked, but next to nothing while the van is moving.
Good Luck

I always find it fun DXing away from home. If there aren't any local signals ... GREAT! Then it's clear for the distant stations to be logged.
