Hi---

Back in 2006 when I was at Everglades City, I was getting TV DX from Central America.

On ch 4 was the logo for Repretel 4 in Costa Rica.....On ch 3 was the same logo, but a different program!! The only 2 theories I had were (1) the show was taped for another TV station, and the logo intact; (2) Costa Rica has 2 or more time zones, and the feeds different.

Now a 3rd theory came up last year to me.....Canal 4 in Nicaragua, until earlier in 2008, had the exact same logo as Costa Rica's 4. ( www.canal10nicaragua.com verifies this.)

Is there a ch 3 that relays 4 in Nicaragua? Any ideas?

This is the list of Nicaraguan tv's....
Canal 2 - Televicentro
Canal 4
Canal 6 – Sistema Nacional de Televisión
Canal 8 – Telenica
Canal 12 – Nica Visión
Canal 21
Canal 23 – HTV

There is a Canal 3 in Honduras. Regarding a channel 3 in Honduras, I copy this from the Televicentrotv website....

"TELESISTEMA HONDUREÑO, S.A., CANALES 3 y 7.

The channel 3 in Honduras gives no indication they would relay any other channel's content. I can't find any reference to a Canal 3 in Costa Rica.

Then there is Telediaro 3 in Cd. Guatemala. They are a news and sports channel, as well as featuring documentaries.

Not sure if these are "any ideas", but it reviews who is on channel 3 in Central America.

Thanks Jim....

The Nicaraguan channels are strictly Managua (BTW I understand ch 6 is off the air). The reason for my inquiry is how the "4" logos (at the time) for both Repretel (Costa Rica) AND Nicaragua (owned by Canal 10) are practically alike. The only difference (if any) is the "ring" around the 4. Seeing both "3's" at the same time, but with differnet programming, had me totally baffled. The only other reason I could think of, was that CR maybe has 2 feeds (time zones).

Yes there is a ch 3 somewhere in Costa Rica. In 2000 I caught it, a relay of Repretel 11. I think Danny's site www.tvdxexpo.com has it up.

Nowadays, per Danny, CR 4's logo has changed, to look like the other Repretel channels.

Now....once the FCC decides on when analog TV in the US will shut off, when that date occurs, more info can be gleaned by yours truly, God willing.

oh btw....Telediario is the news program on Canal 3 in Guatemala, a "pest" here (which I'll be happy to take). Canal 3's home page has been frozen for quite some time. www.canal3.com.gt .....I guess the only correspondence by e-mail will have to go to the Telediario website.

Hi Chris: Costa Rica only has one time zone, and, at 2007 the Nicaraguan Ch4 used to be relayed on ch3, but now I'm not sure

Humberto,

Well then, that answers it! The "4" on ch 3 had to be Nicaragua! Muchas gracias....

BTW, I believe they were showing cartoons on a weekday afternoon (just like Repretel 4 does).

Anyway, a 3-year-old mystery solved!

Many thanks to Humberto and Christopher for this information.

This *might* be the year that I finally have the time, resources (which includes input from DXers like Chris, Humberto, and Jeff Kruszka), and energy to update some of my web pages.
