View Full Version : ZZZzzz...
Has anybody seen any DX lately? Conditions are beyond dead here and I've had the DTV box running 24/7. No new DTVs since Oct 17. No new analogs since Sept 30. Aside from the typical late night / early morning 150 to 200 mile stuff it's been ZZZzzz....

TV DX continues to make it out to 300 miles here every few days. OKC UHF DTVs were received on November 3 and 5, while New Orleans UHF DTVs were in on November 5.
I'm still hoping for some long-haul (400+ mile) tropo to the east, like we used to have here in the fall.

Ed, I can relate to your comments. Friday morning (11/8/08) I got a little excited just being able to receive WKZT-DT 43, Elizabethtown, KY @ 157 miles (61kW @ 584') and WBKI-DT 19, Campbellsville, KY @ 171 miles. WKZT-DT is not seen very often.
Danny and Ed, last year, Nov. 13 was one of my best days for DTV distance (tropo). I logged two new DTVs from Buffalo, NY @ 431 & 432 miles, and another new one from Bad Axe, MI @ 279 miles. But I'm not holding my breath for a repeat this Thursday!

Its been dead here as well (just the usual coastal stuff has been around)... looking forward to the "Winter" E-Skip season though. It should be here anytime between late November and the beginning of January.
My most distant FM log still stands from a Winter ES opening in December (1554 mi to San Angelo, TX)

Steve, I would say things worked out pretty good for another November 13 day of tropo. After reading your posts (and those of other DXers) on the wtfda list and Ed's report here earlier today, it looks like we are all satisfied for a while.
Good call, Steve! You were right on the money with Nov. 13.
Cold front has come through and I'm back in the dead zone, again. It was fun while it lasted.

Had a band opening this morning that lasted about 10 minutes. Grabbed DTV #196 WSTR 33 (64) Cincinnati, OH. 260 mi. Been looking for this one for almost seven months.

This dead-stuff is hard to deal with, i havent gotten a damn thing lately, and this is my first true DX'ing year, one i have logged and such. My furthest FM DX has been set in the summer KGGO from Des Moines,IA. That in which was in my car, NMothing exciting as of late, just basic stuff.

Try for some meteor dx. There's a meteor shower going on right now (12/12) and I've heard a couple of bursts on 104.3, but no IDs yet. Just park on an open frequency, if you have one or two, and listen.

Very weak, unstable Es from Mexico yesterday afternoon on channel 2 produced no IDs. However, it is possible that there will be some good Es this month.
Little bit of DTV tropo this morning...
#197 WDSI 40 (61) Chattanooga, TN. 205 mi. Finally made it over channel clogger WSIU-DT. Been looking for this one for 7 months, yet, I can see WDSI 61 analog every day.
#198 WEMT 38 (39) Greenville, TN. 317 mi. Wasn't even looking for this one. Just stumbled upon it.
A few other re-logs from east TN. and north GA.
