Couldn't have rung in the new year any better. Watched the ball drop with my coworkers at 'BBH (a way better job than the one I had for New Years '05), and drove home through thick fog. Naturally, I checked for trops.

4 new stations!
Tr 23 WLTV Miami, FL 110 01/01/06 1/1/06|00:25(p9)
Tr 25 WPBF West Palm Beach, FL 99 01/01/06 1/1/06|00:25(p10)
Tr 29 WFLX West Palm Beach, FL 101 01/01/06 1/1/06|00:25(p11)
Tr 34 WTVX West Palm Beach, FL 99 01/01/06 1/1/06|00:25(p12)

I haven't had an active year since 2000, I'm hoping this is a good sign!

BTW, my DX page (http://www.egrabow.com/dx/) will be changed around in the next couple of days, for those who'd like to check it out.

Nice logs! Maybe this recent trop down there and ES here is a sign of some of whats to come...

2005 was a good year here for DX, after a slow start it really made up for itself.

Trop record @ 792 miles (103.1 CBH-FM2 Mulgrave, NS)
E-Skip record @ 1,554 miles (92.9 KDCD San Angelo, TX
Low power E-Skip record @ 100 Watts (93.5 St-Augustin, QC)
Low power/Distance Trop record @ 20 watts (92.7 W224AI Loyalsock, PA- 170 miles)
Hearing Sudbury, ON on trop
Hearing WV finally, for a new state
A Pittsburgh and NW PA opening
A Northern New England opening bringing in Class A's from across NH/VT/W-MA.
Hearing Quebec City on trop
Hearing almost to the GA mountains on trop
Hearing the Bahamas on E-Skip
Numerous MS ID's
And last but not least, heard on Jan 1st... E-Skip on the CB bands to Kingston, Jamaica and several Central Colorado at the same time.

So 2006 has quite a standard to beat here, maybe Denver on E-Skip or 2X to a western state this year... or perhaps some 3x across the Atlantic... who knows. On trop it’d be nice to see a good southern opening down the coast again, one of those hasn't been seen since 2002. Something from Columbus, OH and west or NW into Michigan would be nice too. Maybe even something I don't even consider right now...

Good luck all with 2006! :D

I'd say 2006 is sure starting out as a good year down here on the Gulf coast (AKA DXland)
New Years Day with tropo as far as 728 miles into Texas including Dallas area and Arkansas not very often heard.

Jan 2 with tropo to Mexico including a tremendous signal from 10kw XHUNI from 897 miles away.

Jan 3 with 8 meteor ID's in one hour.

Jan 4-5 with good tropo to all of Florida including the Keys to 522 miles and 30 minutes of E skip to Mexico on the low end of FM

Jan 8 with tropo to south Florida including not often heard Miami around 500 miles and more Texas as far as 712 miles - San Antonio.

Jan 11-12 more tropo to Texas, Arkansas, Tennesee, Kentucky to 480 miles over a dozen new stations logged.

Jan 15-16 tropo to Florida Keys again, Texas coast and Mexico with a new distance record with 107.7 XHXAL at 990 miles.

Jan 17 2+ hours of strong sporadic E to Central America including 107.5 MHz for over an hour from Costa Rica and a new country and low power Es record with 250 watt YNF3LL 95.3 Leon, Nicaragua at 1244 miles. 7 ID's from Costa Rica, 6 from Guatemala, 1 or 2 from Honduras, 4 from Nicaragua and 1 from El Salvador.

I'm hoping for the elusive state of New Hampshire this year and maybe break the 1500 mile range with perhaps.....double hop Es???

Congrats on the DX accomplishments guys! High Five.
