Today a number of strong thunderstorms moved up from the Gulf of Mexico across Alabama and Georgia. About the time these storms were midway between a few select radio station locations that are just past the normal reception range, many brief bursts of the station can be heard.
Included here is a 40 second audio sample of 93.9 with WRXW "Rock 93-9" Pearl/Jackson, Mississippi which is 25kw at 228 miles. Notice the song at the beginning coming in on light tropo is the same song in the rapid bursts.
Also 101.7 WYOY Jackson, MS at 251 miles had the same type signals and to the northeast 97.1 was tested and similar results but with bursts only every 5 seconds or so. Urban music was heard constantly in this manner so likely WFOX Gainesville, GA at 302 miles.
