If you have or are familiar with the Quantum QX MW Loops, could you pass along your opinions---I am in the market for a good MW loop for indoor use as I am limited for antenna space.
Thanks;

The Quantum is the best commercially-available small-size loop out there. As I'd noted in another thread, there are several costing a lot less which are good, but as the price differential indicates, there's a performance differential as well. Gerry Thomas also has a reputation for excellent customer service. He is himself a DX'er which enables him to create products which meet our needs.

If the cost isn't a problem for you I'd go for it. Any air core loop one could build which would have similar performance would take up a lot more space.

Thanks again for the advice Russ......I am still also considering a larger loop of some sort mounted on a rotator in the attic but that would lack the ability to tilt one way or another.....decisions--decisions !!!

The ability to tilt is, I think, overrated in some cases. Tilt is most useful when you have very close and also very strong locals. I've had that capability on both of my air core loops for decades but at this location I use it only on a handful of stations. Sometimes it simply doesn't help because the station is too strong and/or there isn't anything else reasonably available.

Bottom line, I wouldn't let that play too big a part in your decision making. I don't believe that where you are it will be a big issue one way or the other.

Agreed. I find that tilt is most useful when I try to null the sky wave of a close station like Chicago which is 90 miles from me, but unfortunately, the ground wave still makes it through too which is then not nulled.

Nice to try if you've got it, but doesn't always do the trick. :)

Thanks Russ and John;
Your opinions and advice are much appreciated....
I don't have any strong AM stations within 35 or so miles and have not really had a problem with them being overbearing except of-course in there immediate freq. range.

Anyone have any thoughts on how the Quantums would compare to a McKay Dymek DA9?

Got an email from Mr Thomas yesterday saying that my Quantum QX http://www.dxtools.com/
and accesories had been shipped and I should recieve them this Friday..I had ordered the v 2.0 loop as well as the Quantum coupler and the battery pack so that I could use the loop with my E-100 and G-6 from any mobile locations as well as with my base. I will report back my results once I get familiar with the set-up..hopefully I will FINALLY be able to get some good MW DXing logged.
