god, 1070 sounds like a graveyard frequency. What a mess. There's not much on 1070 here except for the Canadian and WTIC IBOC.

I got KNX back in late 1990 & I have it on tape, but you are right, I don't bother listening for AM DX much anymore.

To get it in IL at a time with IBOC & more nighttimers is quite a coup.

Wow, I was expecting to hear a weak ID fade up briefly. Amazing to have KNX so clearly dominate among all that mess for a few minutes.

For those of you trying to get KNX from the east coast, they have a very distinct tone that opens their traffic/weather report "on the 5s". It was audible on this recording at about 3:20 in. If the frequency is that much of a mess in the Midwest, these tones might "cut through" if nothing else is. I think they are unique to KNX, and they use them religiously, every 10 minutes when they are in normal news mode.

I'll attach a clearer recording, from just a few minutes ago. As a side note - most "hiss" in the background is not from recording, it is KNX destroying their own signal with IBOC :rolleyes:
