Hi

Not sure if this is the correct section to put this.....PLEASE tell me that this is just a temporary problem.

WRMA 106.7 has turned off its IBOC.....but the last 2 days, when I tune to 106.5 & 106.9, there is a sort of "dead air"-like thing, like an open carrier (more on 106.5 than on .9). Definitely not IBOC hiss, otherwise there'd be a 3-bar signal.

We have had thunder & lightning here the past week, but believe me, I always try to disconnect the antenna when it arrives.

Just wondering if:
(A) this is a WRMA thing
(B) this is a lightning-related thing
(C) my Sony is losing it's punch

Any ideas? "A" would be a preferable answer.

Just wondering if:
(A) this is a WRMA thing
***95% sure its a WRMA thing. Obviously they have something going on with their signal that is affecting the side bands.

(B) this is a lightning-related thing
***If it was, you would be noticing it across the FM band and not just on 106.5 or 106.9

(C) my Sony is losing it's punch
***same answer as (B)

fair enough....maybe they are attempting IBOC again soon, and I'd certainly understand. 'Course that'll kill Habana Radio, but it was good while it lasted.

Our local WMMJ 102.3 did the exact same thing. 102.1 and 102.5 were just dead air, but strong at three bars on the Sony's display. It took a few months to fix, and sometime in the middle they were analog-only; I got one station in dead-band that I hadn't heard before. Now it's unfortunately back to standard IBOC hiss.
