Hey
I found out that Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals (hockey) will be on NBC Friday night. This is also the last night for analog TV.
What if the thing goes to 2, 3 or 4 overtimes? I see a dilemma, not so much in the Miami market, but what about WDIV-4 & WPXI-11? Ooh baby!
Are there "exceptions to the rule", kinda like an analog "martial law" in play here? As much as it's a Game 7, I don't see a sporting event delaying a shutoff, but what do I know?

In the Detroit area, CBET (9) will also have the game, and will be analog for the forseeable future.
Their signal comes in fairly well with a pair of red wings (sorry, couldn't resist).

Perhaps this can give some insight about analog shutoff during events.
Just now, WTVG (Toledo) was scheduled to "transition" at 12:06 AM.
The NBA finals game 4 went into overtime with the Los Angeles Lakers tied with the Orlando Magic.
At 12:06, the game was still in play. I giggled as I envisioned the analog viewers losing their broadcast as the ball was flying toward the hoop.
Didn't happen, the analog continued, into the delayed local night newscast.
After live coverage showed the engineers in the transmitter shack - but NOT pressing a button, nearly 61 years of analog TV from the world's first Channel 13 station ended at the beginning of the ad break.
This was, AFAIK, the first time in at least five years that channel 13 had ever been open. I figured I would take this opportunity to see if I could finally log Grand Rapids, Indianapolis or Pittsburgh while it was off.
No such luck. In less than three minutes WTVG digital channel 13 was on the air, DTV log # 91.

One more thing about the last hockey game....
Last night, I has some Es from an unID zero-offset channel 4, seen under WDIV, also an NBC affiliate, showing the Penguins doing the "Red Wing shutoff", "transition day" for the Stanley Cup.
The unID skipper had the game, but, ironically, WDIV analog was not carrying it, they had gone to nightlight mode that morning!
