View Full Version : NBC today on 4- or 4+ on transition day

I took a portable TV set to work with me on Friday (12 June) to take a few peeks at the digital shutoffs.

I was in Detroit proper (EN81lj) with my 5" Action B&W set, built-in whip antenna, and just after 1000 (AM) EDT, I observed that WDIV-4, already in "nitelite" mode, only about 12 miles away, was getting absolutely hammered by E-skip.

Two unIDs were seen - one was a zero-offset channel 4 with CBS (impossible to honestly claim an ID, propagation conditions favored WTVY).
The other may be narrowed down. It was a plus-offset or minus-offset channel 4, carrying the Today Show (NBC). They had a fairly large crawl near the bottom, inside an opaque bar (looked dark gray on my B&W TV set, so it may have been blue or maroon), stating they would be shutting off at 12:00 noon, and giving the government transition telephone numbers (no local number and no ID).

A looked for suspects - WYFF's website said they went off earlier. A call to KFOR led me to someone who told me they would transition at 1 PM. WSMV's website was no help.

Anyone see this, or can find out if one unique non-zero offset channel 4 NBC affiliate made the transition at 12:00 noon THEIR local time?

Thanks in advance, Rob
