Had INSIGNIA DTV converter on and set to Ch. 2 with antenna looking east, sometime on Friday ( 6 / 12 ) it got the PSIP info from KNOP-TV.
It looks like KNOP switched from analog to digital ( on Ch. 2 ) sometime early in the day and during an opening the PSIP made it into the converter box.
Pleasant surprise later in day when I turned on TV and there were KNOP-TV calls in my PSIP on Ch. 2.
There was no E-skip at this time.

Last night good analog opening into Mexico ,wish I knew Spanish ! I was seeing plenty of stations on 2-6 all from I assume Mexico ! Never saw this many Spanish stations at one time.
Occasionally saw a "nightlight" on Ch. 2 but not long enough to try to figure who it was.

Nice catch on KNOP-2. Use to see them somewhat frequently in San Jose back in the ol' analog days:-)

Somehow I missed your two posts about KNOP-DT2. If you would like, you can be added to the new DTV DX Records page.

Al if you are seeing night light on ch2 it should be either Tulsa or Houston or, if not that, then double hop to the EC. All you have close to you is LA or Reno and I doubt if KCBS would skip up there. Isn't it too close?

Dan,

OK add me to list.
The KNOP PSIP thing happened twice, for sure the morning of 6/12,time I don't know.
DTV tuner was left on 2 and antenna facing east ,wasn't even near TV when it happened !

I like my INSIGNIA converter box,I just purchased it and it works good. Try to find specs on these things !!
I think the last thing on the minds of set makers are the front end, they don't even make the front ends . . . they buy them from some company.
Consumer Reports use to give info on how well TV's received signals . . . not anymore since so many are on cable and satellite.
Remember years ago how Zenith had HOT front ends !!!!!

If I was going to buy a new TV I'd go into a store with some "rabbit ears" and tell the salesperson to please "hook it up " then see how well the set picked up local ( IN THE AIR ) signals.
I'd do this on the sets I'm interested in.

If they would not let ya do it shop elsewhere !

I'd say nowadays most front ends are LUKE WARM.
