KXGN-DT 5, Glendive, MT (1 kW) via Es

Just after KNOP-DT 2, NE decoded this evening, I noticed a signal on ch. 5. Within a few minutes, KXGN-DT 5, Glendive, MT @ 1047 miles popped up, with decoded video for about 2-3 seconds, but I didn't start my recorder quickly enough to catch it. I did catch the PSIP info. New DTV logged at 2035 EDT, 6-20-09.

I find it interesting that a DTV operating with 1 kW ERP, even with the help of Es, can travel over 1000 miles.

Steve, that is especially interesting when you consider how much better Es is on channel 2 than it is on channel 5 (duration of openings and strength). Great catch.

I'm beginning to think DTV Es catches are indeed going to become a lot more common. At least I hope so.
