Rich,

If you want, you can replace the pokey cat's whiskers with triangular loops of the same dimensions. Performance is the same, but less chance to impale oneself.

If you have add-on scan capability, try this antenna in a window facing the DX stations.
Different antenna locations can sometimes bring in different UHF DX.

Thanks for the tip. The wire for the whiskers is only 18 gauge so the bigger problem is them getting bent out of shape when it falls over. I'm going to attach something to the front to hide everything and help keep its shape.
That antenna is highly directional indeed, but I wasn't pointed toward NY when I first scanned. After I spun it around the rest of the stations did come in though.
It seems to perform as good or possibly better than the "Active 5 DX Antenna" I have on the roof.

Thanks for sharing the reception and antenna. Neat project.

No problem!

More tropo tonight and last night than the DX page suggested.

Last night, extreme north jersey, southern NY state:
WMBC 63
WRNN 48
WTBY 54

Tonight the usual Balt/DC:
WRC 4
WFDC 14
CW50 50
WMPT 29
WMAR 2 (UHF, not really 2)
WDCA 20
WHUT 32
WPXW 66

This was with the "Active 5 DX Antenna" on the roof and the Zenith DTT-901
