While DXing this morning, I was using the Zenith DTT900 (no analog pass-through) and the Digital Stream DTX9950 (with analog pass-through). I've been using the Zenith/Insignia units since they first arrived while this is my second DS unit, but I haven't compared it that much next to the Zenith. Both units were being fed via a two-way splitter from the same antenna.
Early in the morning, I performed several "Update" scans on the Digital Stream. One of those early stations included WHIO-DT 41 (7.1), Dayton, OH, a CBS affiliate. Later, the Zenith decoded WETP-DT-41 (2.1), Sneedville, TN (first pic below). I then manually punched in channel 41 on the Digital Stream to see if it would/could locate, decode and display WETP. Yes, it did fully decode WETP, but when I checked the PSIP, I was very surprised. The new channel banner displaying the PSIP for WETP was all correct EXCEPT the call letters. The receiver was still holding on to the WHIO call letters. WETP proceeded to fade in and out several times for around an hour. Everytime it came back up again, I expected the calls to change to WETP. But they never did (pics 2-4 below). I've never seen this with any other DTV receiver since 2001. Very strange.
