This is actually a shortwave clip. I figured since the frequency was pretty low (somewhere between 3000 and 5000 khz) that y'all would'nt mind. It had baffled me since I first heard it sometime between 1993 and 1996. I was still in high school then and one night I stayed up way late - like 3 am - to listen to shortwave.
The format of this station was very unique to shortwave (to me). It actually sounded like an AM station because of the commercials - like one for Colgate/Palmolive soap that you will hear in clip 2! - -"Now everyone can afford to bring Palmolive soap into their homes."
Until recently I thought this signal was coming from Zimbabwe because of the jingle "Good Morning Zimbabwe...." and mentions of Zimbabwe. Also to note in the first clip is the fact that the announcer gives the local time. I have about 30-minutes of audio from this station until I lost it to one of those strange, unknown shortwave noise makers that seemed to rise up out of nowhere. Recently I did some internet research on "Radio Three" and the only thing I find about it is that it is a radio station operated by the BBC in the United Kingdom with no mentions of Africa at all.
Maybe someone out there has heard this station before back then just like I did. I tried to find this station again but I have never heard it since then. Any ideas?
