I was just wondering what the Canadian equivalent of the FCC is and if they have a list of radio stations on their website.

That would be the CRTC. Im not sure if they have a search-able database like the FCC does or not. I usually use Wikipedia when looking up Canadian stations, they will usually have the power level and the city of license/broadcast area. If not the link they provide to the REC database has the power levels.

There is no searchable database. You can download a BASERAD.ZIP file which contains .DBF files for AM, FM, and TV. Many spreadsheet programs can open the .DBFs.
CRTC is not necessarily the right organization to be searching. Regulation of broadcasting in Canada is split among two agencies: the CRTC and the Department of Communications. To over-simplify, the Department is responsible for deciding whether a given set of technical facilities can be used without interfering with existing stations; the CRTC is responsible for deciding which (if any) of a number of applicants will be allowed to use those facilities.
REC does seem to be using the official Canadian database. I do not however see all facilities changes. (the first station I pulled up was CHHR-FM in Vancouver, which is moving from 104.1 to 104.3 and increasing power from 8kw to 10kw. The 104.3 facility does not appear on the REC site.)
WARNING! Most other sites, besides REC and my own, use FCC data for Canadian stations. Canadian data in the FCC database is VERY inaccurate.

The link to the Industry Canada database is:
http://spectrum.ic.gc.ca/infoback/dgse/english/baserade.html
Once there, scroll down to Database files - extracts
and click on Broadcasting database files.
When that list comes up, select amstatio.dbf (second in the list) and download it.
It's a database file which can be opened by any good database program. I even open it up in WordPerfect and it works fine.
Happy viewing,
BILL

Very nice, I have imported it into excel and made it look a little nicer. I hid some of the less needed data and organized it by frequency.

Another spot you may want to check out is Girards spreadsheets at www.dxfm.com. Scroll to the bottom where you can find both US, Canadian, etc lists for both TV and FM. No formats though however, and since it is imported directly and formatted from the FCC and CRTC there can be errors.
