Hi

Back from my adventure in the Keys the past 4 days.....a lot more to put up later, but I need help....

Has anyone ever seen this screenshot? I am not sure if TITNS 2 in San Jose CR has ever been reported, but---last I heard, they are a music video channel, and they were "counting down" music/videos* Sunday afternoon.

If they are still "connected" with Conexion FM 97.9 in San Jose, I plan to write them too, to see if they can decipher this.

My picture "A" here is the only one I've made so far....but I think it's the clearest I have. Because I boo-boo'd in recording this in SP, I had to use the VCR in the living room which can go frame-by-frame, and this is the best I can do.

Any ideas?

[*A countdown of course doesn't mean it's an all-music channel, I know.]

OK I was able to fudge 3 more snaps.....

I figured out that in one of these in upper left is "TOP 20", with song #12 coming up. Another you see "12" where the "Top 20" was.

The #12 video is "Tik Tok".

Another clue: The VJ did say "Canal Dos", but I dunno if that is what ch 2 in CR calls itself.

I do believe that this ch 2 doesn't run as much power as the usual suspects in Central America. Ch 4 in CR was very good in spots at the same time.

Very interesting. That "2" logo is new to me.

Humberto and I chatted last night.....he sent me a photo of 2's logo per Facebook (which is blocked here for now). In the image to the right of the 2 is the word "canal" written on its side, upwards.

The 2 did indeed look like there was writing on the right (I told Danny it was similar to what XHPN 3 has), and one can see, it looks like a faint "canal".

I'm still not convinced, but the Facebook thing has 2's e-mail, so I plan to write, if CRC doesn't help.

Being the weak sister in San Jose, I'm sure they'd be interested in this....we shall see.

<Tweety Bird> I tawt I taw Tanal Too Tosta Weeka......I DID, I DID, I DID tee Tanal Too Tosta Weeka! </Tweety Bird>

I received a reply in e-mail from Canal 2 in Costa Rica, as I supplied them with the photos. YES it was them, and they are surprised...they said in the e-mail that they are weak-powered.

The e-mails (they sent two) were in English. Hopefully I'll maybe get a QSL letter in the mailbox (how primitive)....but in the meantime, Danny told me that I should frame their e-mail.....dunno about that, but I DID print it out....now to look for a picture frame.

Humberto helped out much, by sleuthing getting Canal 2's Facebook page with their contact e-mail. Soy muy feliz....

Here is Bill Hepburn's TV page for the listings in Central America. It includes all the info you need for the logbook......

OK I think I better write Bill...even Canal 2 said they are low-powered and amazed that I caught them!

Chris, you already know my viewpoint on this: Much of the infomation about TV in Latin America (and that includes Mexico) is incorrect. It is not the messenger's fault.

In the case of TV in Mexico, I definately believe that Televisa and TV Azteca are in charge of the system. I think they know where all of the transmitters are located and the ERPs of every station, but the government does not have the details or does not release the details to the public.

If DXers up north ever saw Mexico TV DX the way we do in the south and the lower midwest, they would be surprised by the packed channels of UNidentifying stations that come in for hours at a time.
