Hi
For those of you who will be trying to catch WSKY in NC on Es, don't knock yourself silly.....
A new member who lives in Virginia Beach VA told me that WSKY has moved to DT 9 (RF) this week.
Just trying to relieve you guys of any headaches....

Thanks for the tip. Isn't it ironic that they moved right at the beginning of Es season?

Yes, thanks for the tip, cd. I did log WSKY during last year's Es season while it was around on channel 4. Now it's a new target via tropo for some DXers.
The number of DTV targets via Es is dwindling. A few days ago I started compiling a list of some possible targets from my location and noticed how few there really are, with the exception of some of the new and fairly recent low power digitals. Several of us have already found out that given the right propagation the 300 - 1000 watt stations can really travel.

So WHBF-DT-4 (logged a few times) will be sitting there rather lonely :)
Now if KCWX (23 kw at 48 mi north) could leave DT-5 ... They fired up there Jul 1, 2009 (vs a projected Jul 10) so many NTSC nightlights were still on after Jun 12 that any DTV DX there was hampered. During one Es event this season another DT-5 caused them to quit decoding, and any NTSC Ch 5 Es from Mexico often causes dropouts (and can sometimes be watched thru them).

not evident on there is KFLZ-CA-6, 6 mi east, a "Franken-FM" with raster only and Hispanic music that is also simulcast on 102.3 as K272EK (prob from same tower) :( Prior to late 2008 they'd been KFLZ-7 (with real video!)

Don't say that about KCWX....I have yet to catch a DTV via Es, and they are a prime target. Once I catch it, they are free to roam.

I was just down in the Outer Banks in April and for the life of me could not pick up WSKY on my laptops tuner card. I was in Corolla so I was pretty close.
I only had the small UHF antenna that comes with my tuner and a cheap pair of VHF bunny ears. I could get most of the full power Virgina Beach area stations just fine.
