Hi Michael. Is there much left in the OIRT band? I was in England in June 1995 and DXed 65-74MHz with a PRO2004 scanning receiver and when Es came in the band usually filled up with multiple overlapping signals. It was interesting nevertheless as there was nothing local in that part of the spectrum so the scanner would search the entire spread undisturbed until the Es started. Is it still like that now?

Hi Randy. Just joined the group and so just getting used to how replies come in, plus not 100% up on how PCs work, but here I am, the russians are still on there and I got Radio Rossii they seem to have either and chain of stations under that name or each station has a op out amount of programming, the thing is the poor cannot afford so the story goes to buy new radios and or the stations to buy new gear, anyway this station Radio Rossii on 66.290 was from Kareliya Nadvoyitzy at a distance of 1.850 klms it was in full streo for 20 minutes, look up my location Bungay Suffolk UK.
About two weeks ago I had 17 freqs to tune to within a tuning range of 66..00 to 72.00 for some reason the lower 64.00 and higher 73-74 seems not to be used. I made my own 3 element beam which has a gain I am told of 8.5 dB so for someone who just uses guest work I am pleased, my receiver is a converted Technics ST 500L with 16 memos which are full now, glad you are or where a beleiver in this band. Good DX. Michael UK.

We resided not far from you (Botesdale) 1952-54. We probably took the A143 by there on a few trips to the Great Yarmouth seashore. http://www.qsl.net/wa5iyx/uk-52-54.htm We only had a US AM-FM (not working)-Phono set that was used mainly to listen to AFN programming from Frankfurt at night. At 50-Hz you can imagine what the phonograph sounded like!

Welcome to the forums! I hear there's been SEVERAL 144 mHz E-skip events across the pond this year.
