Logged a new station, KJY83 in Carthage, MS (158 miles) on 162.500. This station uses a mixture of the automated voices "Tom" and "Donna", but also logged a recorded "live" voice of one of the staff doing the "Today in Weather History" segment.

Nice DX, but even more fun to hear a live voice on the WX frequencies. I imagine that DXing these stations was a lot easier in the past when distinctive voices made it easier to tell when you had a new logging.

Anyone else "got WX DX"?

DXing these was a lot easier in the early 70s before they had one (it seems) in every county around here. The coastal area got them first (because of hurricanes) so for a long while it was like only Brownsvillle, Corpus Christi, Beaumont, Lake Charles. Our local 162.55 didn't come on until like 1977-78. With all the current clutter I was lucky to catch this in Jun 2008 http://www.qsl.net/wa5iyx/ra/kxi68_08.ra
