Someone asked me about IBOC here awhile back and I wasn't sure about the Gulf Coast. I know now thanks to Michael in NJ providing this link:
http://www.ibiquity.com/hdradio/hdradio_hdstations.htm

I was a bit surprised to learn that 4 stations about 50 - 70 miles west of me are running IBOC.

92.9 WBLX "93BLX"- urban - Mobile, AL 100kw
98.7 WYCT "Cat" - country - Pensacola, FL 100kw
100.7 WJLQ "Q100"- pop & A/C mix - Pensacola, FL 100kw
104.1 WYOK "Hot 104" Hot AC/CHR - Atmore, AL 100kw

So that explains the different sounding "hiss" on 92.7,93.1,100.5,100.9,103.9,104.3
There goes a whole mess of previously thought of as excellent DXing frequencies as they are usually just "hisssssss". It's rather disapointing to learn that they are "generated" clear freqs! :duh: And explains why I don't get as many signals on them as other clear frequencies.
At least they aren't close in locals, and I do get signals over the hash but this changes the game. Those channels won't be particularly used for Ms !
