I just got an Eton E1 and am very happy with the results at my location, about four miles south of downtown Kansas City MO. However, the rod antenna just came entirely out of the radio at the base. It does go back in but now flops over more then it did before when extended out. Interestingly, having the rod extended fully doesn't always improve the signal quality, and that was also the case with my Grundig Sat. 800 (now sold to a neighbor). Anyway, I may have to find a bobby pin to insert to firm it up a bit. Has Anyone used the E1 for DX from an urban area with lots of strong signal problems? About a week ago I picked up 90.7 Joplin clear over more local 90.7 Lawrence (I estimate Lawrence puts about 250 microvolts--I use Dr. Elving's charts-- into my location). I can't wait to take the set to Fayetteville, AR, to visit my mother the Saturday before Thanksgiving, to see how it does, for instance, on 96.5, which used to belong to Tulsa (using my old 800) with some reception possible from Springfield. However, the last time I was there using my 2010, Springfield came in about 75%and Tulsa 25%, although just turning the antenna 90 degrees could bring in one or the other clearly. J. E. Welcome to the WTFDA Jefferson. Keith has an ETON and brought it to the convention. I'm sure he'll post when he sees this.
