WIPB-DT's New Tower (IN)

Last Thursday (7/28/05) I visited the new tower site for WIPB-DT 52, Muncie, IN (Ball State University - PBS). The site is located 4 miles SSW from the south edge of Muncie, near the tiny town of Cowan. At the time, the tower was a little over 200 feet. When completed, hopefully within the next 2 weeks, the tower will be 850 feet high, including the top-mounted antenna. The CE plans to have the new station on the air sometime in September. It will operate with 140kW from an omni-directional antenna.

Earlier today I was in the Muncie area so I drove to the new tower site to see its progress since I was there in late July. The tower is now finished (pics attached) and according to the vans/trucks parked outside the transmitter building, it appeared that engineers were inside working on the equipment and getting ready for a sign-on sometime this month (according to the CE last month).
