If you think a portable receiver will do, I recommend the Tecsun PL-310. It's available on eBay, among other places. Its FM coverage is 64-108MHz and has an excellent DSP-based filter that does a great job rejecting adjacent channel interference. On AM the filter is adjustable, down to 1Hz per sideband.

There's also the PL-300WT a.k.a. Grundig/Eton G8, but it has no external antenna input. My experiments with both indicate that the 310 is slightly better in regards to overloading.

Default Had a Tecsun PL-310

Hi. I had a Tecsun PL-310 for about two days and sent it back, it was very bad on Long WAve getting only two stations out of a day time nine up against my DEgen de 1103, next MW BC band seemed to not keep up with the DSP, and VHF FM only seemed to get stations that were 25dB and over the Degen 1103 was much better but only tunes down to 76 MHz, looking on YOU TUBE I did see that the PL-310 in many battles, no guys it's a tuner or I am going without, BTW I asked a seller on ebay uk if he had such a tuner thinking he would have an old cheap one about $60 max {£25.00} and this is what he said, looked at ebay item number 120601775846, I almost fell off my chair laughting I think you may as well. Mike in the UK.
