Default 2009 Emisoras de FM

Its not equipment, but this book fits right beside your fm dx gear.

Yes, its coming soon, to a mailbox near you!

Due to the continual change of FM radio assignments throughout the world, I am happy to announce that coming April 1, 2009, the latest edition of Emisoras de FM will be available. There is a ton of new information from Cuba and Haiti that is in the 2009 edition. I am currently reviewing all of the other countries listed in "Emisoras de FM" for updates and changes.

Stay tuned here for future announcements.

This is your opportunity to post suggestions about how I can improve the latest edition. (Editors note: Please do not suggest any major format changes - those are already fixed.)

I'm looking for information that could be incorporated that makes the book easier to use. And if you are familiar with fm news or updates from those regions of the world covered in "Emisoras de FM", you can email them to me at mrradiohead -at- wdemail.com

Update 2-13-09

The 2009 edition of Emisoras de FM is coming along nicely and looks like it will be ready by April 1st, and that's no joke :-)

Here's what to look forward to in the 2009 edition.....

-The format stays the same.
-There are over 150 changes in listings in México;
-The COMPLETE list of licensed fm radio stations in Cuba, which currently lists 270 stations. Of this list, 33 of them are low powered network relays (Radio Enciclopedia, Radio Músical Nacional, etc), which operate on 794 watts or less.
-The COMPLETE list of licensed fm radio stations in Haïti, which currently lists 174 stations. Most of these are 1kw and about one third of them broadcast in mono.
-Every other country has been updated also.

Stay tuned, and let me know if you would like to be on the 'reserve' list! 73!

Jim-

Thanks for the update. I found the previous version very useful and it helped me identify my first Cuban stations. Sign me up for the 2009 version.

Thanks for your efforts! This is a great reference for stations south of the border.

Doug

Default Pre-Orders for 2009 Emisoras de FM

Announcing the 2009 Edition of Emisoras de FM
The cutoff date for pre-orders is April 17th, 2009

NEWS
The latest edition of Emisoras de FM is almost here. The full color covers should arrive today from the printer. There are only a few pages left to complete in the MASTER COPIES, and then they are off to the printers. The printer only takes about one week to print and manufacture as a book. Its now time to get all 'the ducks in a row' and find out how many dxers would like a copy of the latest edition. Please keep in mind this is most likely the LAST edition I will publish.

WHAT'S IN THE NEW EDITION?
What's in this book, that's different from the 2007 edition, that would be the reason you should have one? Obviously, every country & island listed has been updated to the most current information available. Accurate, authentic files from government licensing agencies have been used for every listing in this book. Secondary sources via the internet have been used to verify slogans and music formats for stations in the listings. A big bonus, especially for East coast dxers, is the comprehensive updates to Cuba & Haiti. This is the first edition that incorporates EVERY licensed fm radio station and relay station in Cuba and Haiti. And then, we have included Guatemala's list of 'un-licensed' religious broadcasters to the listings and maps. These are stations that signed on the air pre-1995, during the political unrest years. The Guatemalan government has allowed these to stay on the air, as they serve a very small area, as an ethnic, religious broadcaster. Continuing, several of the maps have been redesigned to make them easier to use. Because of the 'concept' of this book, the format has remained as a 'landscape' layout. This means the book may still feel large. Its even grown by a few pages from the previous edition. But, this particular format lends itself because of the amount of content that goes into the book. I also chose this format, recognizing the 'aging baby boomer population', desiring to keep the text large enough for those that don't like to squint. A final note - we'll make sure the printer gets the collating correct this time (coil-binding).

WHERE CAN I SEE A PREVIEW OF THE NEW BOOK?
Mike Bugaj will be putting up information with sample pages on the WTFDA website very soon. He's waiting for me to get this information to him. Please keep your eyes on this forum thread for that announcement or visit the WTFDA website periodically to see if that information has been added.

HOW MUCH IS THE LATEST EDITION?
$25.00 each, which includes shipping & handling. You can order more than one book, if you want to.

HOW DO I ORDER?
There are two ways you can order. You can mail a check directly to me, or, you can send money via Paypal, through my business account.

---Via the snailmail, send checks or money orders to....
Old West Graphics
280 E. Katsura Street
Milliken, CO 80543-9144

Old West Graphics is my personal graphics design company and I have routed this edition of Emisoras de FM through the company. Please make sure the payment is to OLD WEST GRAPHICS.

---Via Paypal, send your money to...
"owg123@wdemail.com" and be sure to note that it is for Emisoras de FM. As a backup procedure, you may want to email me also to let me know you have submitted an order, with shipping information, and how many books were ordered. Sometimes Paypal does not send me all of the information I need to send out an order.

PRE-ORDER CUT-OFF DATE
The cutoff date for pre-orders is APRIL 17th, 2009. As with the previous edition, the plan is to print according to demand. There will NOT be a large inventory beyond the PRE-ORDERS, so if you forget to order, you may not get a copy. If you send money at a later date and all copies are gone, your money will be returned to you.

HOW SOON WILL THE NEW EDITION BE SHIPPED?
Hopefully, we will be ready to ship to all pre-orders by April 24, 2009. We were hoping to make it April 1st (April fool's!) - really - the truth of the matter, this edition is using consultants for editing purposes and we are still waiting for information to be returned to us. At any rate, if nothing goes wrong, the SHIPMENT DATE is scheduled for April 24, 2009.

If you have any questions, do not reply here. Please direct your comments to my personal email address below. Hopefully this will be a good DX season for all.
